Due to the acquisition of a large and complex client, an exciting newly-created role has become available for a Principal Broker to join Marsh in Adelaide.

Working within the Corporate and Commercial team, you will be responsible for the growth, profitability and client satisfaction of this significant account.

This includes managing and developing client relationships, acting as the client's trusted advisor, and expanding and diversifying the mix of Marsh products and services the client holds.


In this position you will mentor and manage a small team to provide a high level of customer service at all times.

This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop their leadership skills and progress in their career.

Some travel within South Australia will be required.

We will count on you to:

  • Manage all aspects for a key account, taking a pro-active approach to account management and ensuring that a high degree of quality customer service is provided at all times
  • Develop and maintain effective longterm relationships with key client decision makers
  • Lead, plan and implement clear and effective renewal and broking strategies, ensuring renewal process and results meet client expectations
  • Create quality underwriting submissions and effectively negotiate with insurers and other stakeholders
  • Maintain an awareness of all large and potentially complicated claimrelated matters and assist claims personnel in the negotiation of equitable claim settlements on behalf of client
  • Engage with and manage all internal stakeholders in delivering 'all of Marsh' to your client base
  • Manage, mentor, coordinate and develop team members through clear and effective communication, delegation and performance management
  • Contribute towards the Company's profit objectives through the effective management and attainment of revenue and expense budgets
  • Contribute towards achieving Divisional and Team business plans and objectives
  • Administer performance appraisals and serve as a coach for a small team
  • Participate in industry events and client functions to build a strong professional network, maintain proximity to the relevant market and represent the Company

We would like you to have:

  • Tier 1 Insurance Broking qualification
  • Experience in managing large clients
  • Demonstrated focus on providing outstanding customer service
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of general business functions including finance, management and risk
  • Excellent working relationships with insurers and underwriting partners
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of client organisations including the 'C' Suite, as well as internal Marsh stakeholders
  • Awareness of environmental, financial, regulatory, and social factors affecting clients' operations and business
