John Fawkner Private Hospital is an administration officer to join our team on a casual basis across our hospital in areas such as Emergency, Reception and Admissions and Day surgery.

You will play a key role working within our supportive team to ensure our patients have a positive experience during their care.


About us
John Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the northwest of Melbourne.

With 186 registered beds, a 12 cubicle Emergency Department, 5 operating theatres, 12 bed critical care complex and busy Day Procedure Unit, we provide a wide range of services to its community.

We specialise in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT, gynaecology. neurosurgery, ophthalmics and vascular surgery.


As an administration officer your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform a broad range of administration duties including:
  • Manage a busy reception desk
  • Answer and redirect calls
  • Organise appointments and prepare admission paperwork
  • Conduct follow up requests and make reminder calls for visits
  • Maintain accurate and effective record management systems including preparation of medical records
  • Manage the collection of excesses/co payments
  • Coordinate with staff from other departments
  • Complete other clerical tasks such as data entry

Essential Criteria:


  • Availability to work nights and weekends
  • Authority to Work in Australia
  • 1year administration experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience in MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
