Eduardo Jorge Pinto

After a few decades in the job market, I hold much experience in the following functions:

- Reliability Engineering/Maintenance Engineering/Strategic Asset Management,

- ILS

- Quality/Product Assurance, and SHE- Programme Management

- System Engineering 

I performed these functions both as a Specialist and a Manager. My work experience in industry is vast.  For about 19 years I lectured Quality Management on a part time basis for the Production Management Institute of South Africa (PMI). In the various companies I have worked for, I functioned both as a mentor or a coach to train younger engineers.

The first ten years of my working life were spent in the manufacturing and after-sales industries (steel ropes and pumps) as a quality manager and after-sales manager.

In the aerospace sector I worked for Denel Aviation for a total of 25 years in two fixed wing and two rotary wing programs, in Project Management, Reliability, ILS, Quality, and Systems Engineering positions.

Next I worked for Hatch for 2 and half years as a Strategic Asset Management lead with lots of emphasis on maintenance planning.

I also worked for the South African National Space Agency (SANSA). Here I was employed as the Quality Specialist, developing and implementing their quality system.  I acted in an executive position as the Programme Divisional Director until an appointment was made.

I have now joined the Southern African Shipyards as RA and QA Manager.

 I find that I am well rounded from a professional perspective in many of the disciplines that dictate the success or otherwise of most organisations. I hold a MBA, and a MEng. I am also a Chartered Engineer (Aeronautical) with the Royal Aeronautical Society, and hold further Professional certifications in Project Management (PMP), Quality (CQE), Reliability (CRE) and Physical Asset Management (CPAMP). .
