Job description: - The Department of State Growth is moving towards a new public transport network planning tool which will allow us to manage and improve our public transport networks by significantly enhancing our analytical capability and ability to provide timely and strategic advice. The Network Planning Analyst will work as a member of a team to maintain and use the network planning tool to manage and improve the public transport network and support key public transport projects. A key focus of the position will be interrogating systems and promoting better data and spatial analysis.
Period of Appointment:
Appointment to the role is on a fixed term flexible (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) basis for two years.
Duties:
- Undertake data analysis and maintenance of public transport systems, including spreadsheet models, spatial tools such as ArcGIS and the new network planning tool.
- Promote continuous system improvement within the team. Train and educate team members to achieve and maintain best practice.
- Use network planning tools to:
- Develop and review public transport networks in terms of patronage analysis, service levels, performance and timetable and route changes.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to ensure the public transport system continues to grow.
- Develop solutions or recommendations to support changes based on clear analytical evidence.
- Identify how changes can be cost effectively implemented.
- Ensure effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as bus operators and bus customers through regular and clear communication and advice informed by data. Maintain open and constructive communication that is responsive, and actively identifies and resolves issues early.
- Exercise a level of autonomy with daily activities and tasks, including proactively managing projects and analysis tasks and working as member of a team on larger projects.
Desirable Requirements:
- A relevant degree or other tertiary qualification (possibly in geography and planning, economics and business, engineering, science and mathematics).
- Current driver licence
