Salary relative to experience and ranges from $78,260 to $86,539 plus super

Our dedicated and passionate Athletic Centre Team is seeking a Groundsperson to undertake the preparation and maintenance of turf and grounds at various locations around Sydney Olympic Park to ensure sports turf areas are maintained to the highest standards applicable to the sports played on that surface


What you'll be working on

  • Prepare and maintain soft landscape playing surfaces of the sports field's portfolio to elite and world class standard and to maintain the 6 Star Green Star Community achievement.
  • Perform minor and major renovating activities successfully and safely in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver ground maintenance outside of the event and booking schedule to maximise field of use activities that indirectly increases Venue revenue and customer and community satisfaction.
  • Perform minor routine and maintenance to the grounds machinery equipment, repair and replace irrigation infrastructure where required.
  • Ensure the safe operation of a wide variety grounds equipment used to maintain sports fields.
  • Provide information and liaise with grounds team, staff, clients, stakeholders and tenants ensuring technical and safety requirements are understood and achieved.
  • Ensure compliance with administrative and organisational policies and procedures and legislative requirements, including WHS and Information Security.
  • Ensure environmental initiatives are implemented at best practice with materials, chemicals, fertilizers and pesticides and implement the organisations' sustainability initiatives to maintain the 6 Star Green Star rating.

Essential Requirements

  • Horticultural trades certificate or equivalent experience and technical knowledge in horticulture and maintenance techniques
  • Chemical Handling Certificate, or capacity to acquire and retain
  • Current Driver's licence
  • National Criminal Records Check
  • A Working with Children Check is an essential requirement for this role. The role has been identified as requiring a check in keeping with the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012
