The Advocacy and Campaigns Manager will provide campaign and advocacy advice and support to a range of key policy priorities for the College.

The work will involve the development and execution of effective advocacy strategies, initiatives and campaigns working closely with the policy & advocacy leadership and staff, and external media advisors.

This will include strategic thinking, the development of targeted written materials, and effective utilisation of a range of communication and social media vehicles.


This is a senior role that will engage with and support staff members, fellows and trainees to contribute to and be a key part of the College's advocacy work, harnessing their expertise, experience and profile within the policy and advocacy processes.


  • Develop well thoughtout, relevant advocacy strategies, encompassing a range of activities such as digital communications, earned media, roundtable events and Parliamentary engagement, to advance policy objectives of the College, while maintaining its respected reputation for nonpartisan, evidencebased, memberdriven policy and advocacy
  • Develop and oversee the development of campaign materials, including branding, messaging,press releases, social media content, EDM, web copy and supporter packs
  • Develop a government relations strategy and planning to support advocacy campaigns
  • Support development of briefs and other materials for Ministerial and MP meetings
  • Advise on strategies for engaging with elected officials
  • Devise engagement with key external stakeholders to build successful campaign coalitions
  • Develop supporter mobilisation strategies and drive engagement with members on campaigns
  • Engage with key internal stakeholders on the development and execution of campaigns, including media and communication

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience and proven success in developing and executing successful public advocacy campaigns
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to develop a wide range of community, government and memberfacing communications
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement, relationship management and influencing skills, including with government stakeholders
  • Superior knowledge and understanding of government processes
  • An excellent understanding of evidencebased behaviour change approaches
  • Project management skills, including demonstrated ability to plan, implement, review and achieve project goals and objectives
  • Experience in health or social policy advocacy and understanding of key issues, stakeholders, challenges and opportunities in these areas
  • Experience at management level in a government agency or political staff role in public affairs
  • Understanding of event management, particularly events involving Members of Parliament
