About The Opportunity
SWSLHD Sexual Assault Service has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Specialist to join its Forensic Medical Service.

This position provides comprehensive forensic and medical care for children, young people and adult victims of sexual assault presenting to health facilities across South West Sydney NSW Local Health District.


The Staff Specialist provides expert clinical advice and support to health care professionals and other stake holders regarding the care of victims of violence, abuse and neglect i.e.

sexual assault and domestic violence.

They will contribute to the development and delivery of specialty related education programs and participate in the strategic and operational planning for the SWSLHD Sexual Assault Forensic Medical Service.


What you'll be doing
Provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a SWSLHD facility under your care.

This care will be provided within the clinical privileges granted by the CE on the advice of the SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.

How to Apply

  • Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award. A subspecialty interest in sexual assault, women's health, child protection or domestic violence would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  • Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or post graduate level, including clinical supervision of junior medical staff.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing selfeducation and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education/ continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of a public health organization, including the provision of services to the local community, effective utilization of resources, and preparedness to participate in the provision of health services at an LHD level.
  • Preparedness to participate in a hospital, service or LHD oncall roster.
  • Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Must possess a valid Australian Drivers Licence (excluding learner driver's licences). If not already in possession, a NSW Drivers Licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.
