Dandenong Hospital is an active and varied hospital that has a strong surgical component as well as medical patients and a neurological stream.

Whilst this allied health assistant role is the sole role in occupational therapy there is a strong multi-disciplinary AHA group and numerous professional development opportunities.

It is a stimulating and varied environment in which to work.


The Occupational Therapy department works in close contact with our colleagues in the other Monash Health bed-based services, and Community Services.

There is a particularly close relationship between Casey & Dandenong Hospitals.

We offer a strong professional development programme and regular supervision in general as well as specific AHA sessions, both within these 2 hospitals as well as the wider Monash Health programmes.

We are excited to offer Grade 2 Allied Health Assistants the opportunity to join the Occupational Therapy team. This is a great opportunity to join a high performing team. As part of the Allied Health team you will be expected to work across sites as required.


A Day in the Life


At Dandenong Hospital, we have one Allied Health Assistant in a team of 12 occupational therapists in the acute stream and 6 hand therapy clinicians.

The AHA spends mornings supporting the hand therapy team and then afternoons in the acute stream.

Work may include making external provider referrals through MAC and internal providers, equipment ordering, provision of equipment to in-patients, delegated patient interventions, departmental equipment cleaning and documentation of interventions.

Supervision of AHA students is also a requirement.


What you bring:


  • Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent
  • A current Australian Driver's Licence
  • Australian working rights
  • Demonstrated expertise in the delivery of delegated acute occupational therapy services
  • Sound reasoning, with initiative and the ability to work independently
  • Passion for enhancing patient experiences and facilitation of recoverycentred care
  • Excellence in initiative and a commitment to ongoing evaluation and best practice.
  • An aptitude for ongoing learning and personal professional development
  • Clear, compassionate and effective communication and interpersonal skills
