About us:

Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is an integrated transport infrastructure and precincts planning project that will deliver a 90km rail line linking every major train service from the Frankston Line to the Werribee Line via Melbourne Airport, as well as investment in the suburbs, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other.

Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) is the statutory body established to plan all elements of the project, procure builders, develop structure planning for SRL Precincts and oversee construction and the other changes that will help transform Melbourne and Victoria.

SRL is more than a rail project.

About the opportunity:

Within the Planning and Precincts Division, the Strategic Planner will be responsible for leading planning projects within the SRL Planning and Precincts team and providing expert advice in relation to precinct planning within the Suburban Rail Loop project.

As a high-performing Strategic Planner in this fast-paced and collaborative environment, you will:

support the development of strategic planning advice and projects in a multidisciplinary context

- conduct research and analysis on strategic planning and policy issues
- prepare high quality briefs, reports and correspondence
- support the management and coordination of planning projects, consultants and deliverables within a broader program of work
- contribute towards providing expert advice and recommendations to senior managers
- work with a range of internal and external stakeholders

Key accountabilities:

Contribute to the development of policy options relating to place specific planning and development strategies, to manage complex urban planning issues within SRL precincts.
Provide advice on current and emerging planning issues, government policy and strategies, including working collaboratively with specialist consultants or drawing on expertise across departments.
Undertake research and analysis supporting the development and implementation of policy frameworks or strategic planning initiatives to facilitate precinct outcomes.
Support the delivery of strategic planning projects in a complex and multidisciplinary context; develop components of successful project delivery, including preparing project plans, project reports, briefing materials and presentations, and contribute to effective project performance monitoring and continuous improvement processes.
Communicate issues, risks and recommendations to senior management in a timely manner.
