HR & Recruitment Coordinator
This volunteer position plays a key role in The Water Well Project's Human Resources

team. The Recruitment Coordinator is responsible for supporting the recruitment

activities for The Water Well Project and ensuring we are hiring the best people. It will

work closely with the Human Resources Officer to ensure a smooth onboarding for our

new committee members and employees.


Key responsibilities

  • Managing Position Descriptions for the organisation and developing new Position
Descriptions as required;

  • Managing Employment Contracts for the organisation;
  • Advertise, shortlist and interview coordination for all recruitment;
  • Conduct phone screens and sit on interview panels;
  • Assist with sending out new starter documentation for volunteers;
  • Maintaining organisational charts and committee volunteers list to ensure they
are up-to -date.

  • Preparing and/or updating human resources policies of the organisation;
  • As required, assisting with management of performance concerns involving
employees and volunteers;

  • Providing a quarterly report to the CEO and/or Chair on human resource
operations prior to each Management Committee meeting;

  • Attendance at Management Committee meetings;

Key selection criteria

  • Education and experience in a human resources position.
  • A passion and willingness to join a good cause and an understanding of the
aims and objectives of The Water Well Project


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional stakeholder management
  • Self-motivation and excellent time management skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with a skilled base
of volunteers.


  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Suite such as Excel and Word.
  • Prior experience or a keen interest within NFP / Health Promotion is preferred,
but not mandatory.


Reporting
The Human Resources Officer reports to the CEO and the Chair.


Term of office and time commitment
The successful applicant should ideally be able to commit to a minimum of 12

months. Time commitment varies week on week but is expected to average between

2-3 hours per week.

The Water Well Project is a not-for-profit organisation based in Melbourne. Our mission

is to promote the good health and wellbeing of communities from migrant, refugee

and asylum seeker backgrounds by improving their health literacy. Our vision is that all

communities from migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds achieve

equitable access to healthcare.

The Water Well Project works closely with partner organisations already working with

people from migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds to develop culturally

sensitive and interactive health education sessions. Since its inception in 2011, The

Water Well Project has delivered over 1250 sessions across Victoria, New South Wales

and Tasmania in 40 different languages. Our 250+ volunteers are healthcare

professionals (doctors, nurses, midwives, and allied health) who donate their

knowledge and time to deliver health education sessions outside their hours of paid

professional work.

All Committee volunteers are required to comply with _The Water Well Project _

  • Volunteer Agreement_ and agree to work according to our values. A declaration of
any potential conflict of interest(s) is required. Adherence to privacy and

confidentiality is required.

The Water Well Project will recommend and also encourage all Committee members

to identify appropriate training opportunities relating to their role. Funds may be

made available for such a purpose.
