The main purpose of these roles is to drive a transformation agenda, provide effective 2nd line risk oversight, challenge and advice, over the implementation of and adherence to the Risk Management Practice Framework in NAB across the end-to-end value chain for NAB's.


The role exists to develop and monitor Operational Risk appetite, provide insight on operational risks and controls, develop and coordinate the implementation of Enterprise operational risk policies and strategies and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.


The role and Day to day will include:

  • Drastically simplifying the existing policies initially, then overseeing the ongoing implementation and execution of the RMPF (as per CPS 220 and other relevant risk. standards, frameworks and Basel requirements) into operations, including setting goals for implementation and integration into business processes.
  • Implementing Best-Practice operational risk methodology and operating model, to sustainably close longoutstanding functional gaps and regulatory issues.
  • Managing large scale transformation programs of work (Risk profiling, Risk Management Practice Framework)
  • Providing factbased risk insights to manage identified operational risk exposures, outcomes and performance improvement, via risk reporting, tailored to the relevant audience.
  • Perform review and challenge over first line activities.

What you will bring:


  • Trackrecord in driving transformation, largescale process reengineering and change management
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment within the professional services sector and/or a financial institution.
  • Understanding the key regulatory requirements around third parties, responsible lending, financial crime prevention and other relevant regulatory and legal requirements as they relate to NAB
  • A proven ability to leverage data and numerical skills in risk decision making (not a core competency, but ability to apply)
  • Ability to drive action and accountability of actions post completion of risk reviews.
  • Experience bringing multiple stakeholders together and influencing outcomes
  • Strong business acumen business and financial judgment, problem solving skills and ability to distil large volumes of data/information
  • Proven track record of ability to manage and lead, improve or design solutions
  • Capability of operating in a fast paced and constantly changing landscape.
