About this role


Reporting to the Senior Manager Employee Relations you will be responsible for leading diverse and exciting Employee Relations Projects and representing Queensland Rail in industrial forums with employees, unions, employee bodies and industrial authorities.


About you:


  • Interpersonally, are you a natural relationship builder? Our environment is complex and comprised of multiple stakeholders, so a collaborative approach is a must.
  • Do you love autonomy and thrive in changing environments? No two days will be the same, so agility to handle a variety of emerging matters is key.

You can anticipate some of your responsibilities to include:

  • Provide strategic guidance and support to Senior leaders in conducting negotiations with employees and unions to protect the interests of Queensland Rail in a complex project environment.
  • Provide expert advice, coaching and support to Senior leaders on change impacts, policy matters, legislative requirements and industrial instruments to support the resolution of complex workplace matters.
  • Compile, analyse and report on industrial relations issues for Senior management review, including occupational health and safety, workplace reform, impact of change, ratified agreements and industrial authority decisions.
  • Maintain a strong solution driven and customer focus with key stakeholders, whilst influencing and engaging with the business to implement effective People and Culture (P&C) practices to mitigate risk.

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • Extensive knowledge of relevant workplace legislation, employment case law and industrial instruments.
  • High level of influencing, interpersonal, consultation, relationship building, change management and negotiation skills.
  • Substantial level of leadership skills in a large and complex organisation, focused on building a customer focused, performancebased culture.
