APG Workforce are currently looking for an Event Coordinator for a 9-month contract Government Sector based in Sydney CBD.

Primary purpose of the role

Manage and coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of a range of internal and external event projects to contribute to the delivery of policy initiatives that support Agency and Government objectives.

The role works closely with the DEIT Strategic Communications and Engagement team as well as business units across Investment NSW.


Key accountabilities

  • Manage a program of in person, hybrid and online events (mostly using Microsoft platforms) including preparing complex technical run sheets to ensure event execution is managed effectively and risks are minimised.
  • Prepare event management plans for a range of events, including developing budgets, timelines, logistic and evaluation components, to ensure events are delivered in line with established priorities and initiatives and to Department standards and requirements.
  • Undertake a range of event management tasks including sourcing and managing venues and suppliers to ensure all are fit for purpose, drive technical production elements and content creation, advise on event design and monitor the staging of events to meet the objectives established in the project plan.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating their engagement in and contribution to identifying and developing proposals and recommendations to achieve event objectives.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the development and implementation of events to ensure the achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Manage the flow and tracking of project documentation, briefings and correspondence in the records management system to ensure compliance with organisational requirements.
  • Prepare correspondence, written reports and briefs, that are informative and aligned with Department requirements, to respond to Agency and Government requests.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrated experience working at a senior level in event management with strong stakeholdermanagement skills.
  • Experience in delivering events of varied size, scale, complexity and format (including in person, hybridand online).
  • Experience in producing high profile events with short lead times.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings and a willingness to travel interstate.
  • A current drivers licence
  • Experience in producing high profile events is a must and exhibition experience is ideal.
  • Government experience required to navigate our large and diverse group of stakeholders.
