About the role:

The role requires a Product Development mindset to assist in elevating the profile of the team's products and services and meeting our ever-growing need for technology in these two product areas across the organisation.

You will be working in a professional, highly dynamic and established team of IT professionals and will be regularly exposed to the various disciplines that Victoria Police operates in.

Your duties will include:


  • Managing the effectiveness of the Platforms and Services in terms of functional fit for business purpose and effectiveness of service delivery on behalf of Victoria Police, including the development, maintenance, and enablement of product roadmaps.
  • Overseeing and providing specialist authoritative advice supporting the development and execution of an IT operational strategy, resolution of escalated issues and mitigation of risks, for the Platforms and Services under management.
  • Developing, maintaining, and enabling/realising a product roadmap agreed with our business that enables the agreed service and functional needs of the business.
  • Facilitating business analysis, requirements gathering, and backlog management and prioritisation for ICT product enhancements, developments, and defect resolution.
  • Managing Product Specialists including staff management and oversight as required
  • Advocacy and liaison with internal and external stakeholders and consumers of the Platforms and Services under management.
  • Managing changes, additions and enhancements to the Platforms and Services under management.
  • Sponsoring projects required to deliver the product roadmap and act as the technology/product governance within project steering committees.
  • Leading the technology product domain in collaboration with business stakeholders and Business engagement teams.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Advanced comprehensive knowledge and expertise in developing, maintaining, and continuously improving technology products and services within large, highly complex environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring and coaching a team of technical specialists, directly or indirectly, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Role 1) Property, Assets & Forensics or
  • Role 2) Investigation, Brief, Legal & Offender.
  • A business development mindset to assist in elevating the profile of the team's products and outputs.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results and marshal professional expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience at a senior level in the preparation and provision of responsive, clear and concise specialist advice, recommendations and solutions both verbally and in writing through effective research, negotiation and consultation with stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills together with demonstrated strong written communication skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Technology, Business or Engineering disciplines.
  • Training or experience in SAFE, ITIL or COBIT frameworks would be highly regarded.
  • Experience working in an agile and dynamic technology environment would be highly regarded

Requirements and relevant information:


  • Two (2) x fulltime, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo preemployment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
