Public Sector People are currently partnering with a State Government Department to fill the position of Communications Officer.

As the Communications Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing communication plans and strategies that support the department's objectives.

This is a 6-month contract position at the AO5 level.


About the Role:


  • Develop and implement communication plans and strategies to support the department's objectives
  • Create and coordinate content for digital and print communications, including social media, website, newsletters, and media releases
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and internal teams to ensure effective communication
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication activities and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Contribute to the development of communication policies and procedures

Requirements for the Role:


  • Degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communication plans and strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience working in the public sector will be highly regarded
