About the Role

  • Assist disaster affected individuals, families and communities with post disaster mental health services and emotional wellbeing support. Positively promote and demonstrate individual, carer and family recovery and be open to sharing the personal lived/living experience. Be an effective and collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, and work within professional boundaries in accordance with peer work values to provide safe and quality practices as part of an integrated model of care.
  • Provide direct peer support to consumers to build their capacity for independence, by engaging in individual and group peer support, advocacy and education activities.
  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to have a personal lived / living experience of mental health and / or substance use issues and recovery.
