About the role:


We have a great opportunity for someone who has passion for rehoming animals and providing excellent customer service to our community.

The role of Companion Animal Rehoming Officer is responsible for proactively promoting the animals in care at the ACF to find them suitable homes.

This is through regularly updating our website content and other platforms, networking to effectively promote the rehoming of animals through community, welfare and rehoming organisations and responding to a variety of customer inquiries.

The CARO role will also provide general administrative support to the ACF team and be encouraged to think outside the box for new and innovative ideas on how to rehome the various companion animals that come into our care.


The role is currently available on a full time, temporary basis, however has potential to go permanent within the next months.


  • Relevant qualifications and extensive job related experience in an appropriate field.
  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge, compassion for and experience in dealing with companion animals.
  • Significant experience in or demonstrated capacity for developing materials for promotional/marketing purposes.
  • Ability to liaise and network effectively with external customers and animal welfare groups to promote animals for rehoming and sale.
  • Selfmotivated with welldeveloped public relations, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly developed conflict resolution, negotiation and mediation skills.
  • A commitment to community education.
  • Effective analytical and innovative problem solving skills.
  • Advanced internet, social media and computer skills (using Microsoft Office Applications and relevant corporate software).
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Photographic skills (skills in animal photography will be highly regarded)
  • COVID19 Vaccination or Medical Contraindication Certificate upon commencement.
