THE POSITION:


Our client who is based in Canberra are seeking an experienced Senior Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join their team.


The Snr Registrar will have the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team; applied theoretical knowledge and experience in determining the appropriate clinical diagnosis, investigations, and treatments of patients; provides guidance and support to interns and residents in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department.


THE HOSPITAL:

The Hospital is a 250+ bed teaching facility affiliated with the Australian National University.

They are one of Australia's largest healthcare providers across Public and Private Hospitals, Residential Aged care and Home Care.

Inpatient services include ICU, emergency, general medicine, neurology / stroke, cardiology, O&G, general surgery, urology and mental health.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACTIVITIES, AND DUTIES:


  • Practice in accordance with hospital and relevant Government Health policies and procedures, the position description, Code of Conduct and industrial agreements.
  • Work in accordance with the mission and vision of the hospital and actively participate in developing a culture that promotes their values of healing, hospitality, stewardship and respect.
  • Participate in meetings and education sessions as schedule
  • Assist in the supervision of interns and residents and engage in opportunities for the extension of their clinical knowledge and skills
  • Maintain effective communication with patients and the relatives, hospital staff, medical colleagues, and General Practitioners.
  • Participate in scheduled handover meetings
  • Maintain close liaison with Consultants regarding patient conditions.
  • Ensure effective handover of patients requiring ongoing care and monitoring at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain medical records in accordance with hospital policy and requirements, including the accurate and timely production of discharge summaries. Ensure completion of discharge summaries by themselves and departmental registrars and junior medical officers.
  • Work within personal levels of expertise and seek assistance as required.
  • Flexibility in performing duties in response to operational needs of the department.
  • Facilitate coordination of multidisciplinary education
  • Facilitate coordination of presentations at morbidity and mortality meeting.
  • Contribute to systems improvement and quality monitoring activities in conjunction with designated supervisor, including audit projects with approval

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • COVID19 vaccination is a mandatory requirement unless assessed exempt
  • Registrable as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Previous experience as Obstetrics and Gynaecology registrar or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work within personal level of expertise and seek assistance as needed from senior staff.
  • Ability to assist interns and residents to extend their clinical skills and knowledge.
  • High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Support the organisation's compliance with relative Legislative requirements and the National Safety and Quality Health Services (NSQHS) Standards.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the provision of a high quality clinical service.
