We have a fantastic opportunity for dedicated Respite Assistants to join our new The Pines Cottage Respite in North Plympton.


About the role


The Respite Assistant works within the Community Respite team to deliver the Health & Wellness vision of supporting clients wellbeing through reablement and restoration Our proven model for respite care see our clients living in their own community for as long as possible.


Positions are paid under the SOC award with:

  • Level 2 starting at $32.21/hour and
  • Level 4 starting at $41.52/hour.


Under the guidance of the Respite Cottage Lead (RN), this role provides high quality, person centred care to clients living with cognitive and/or physical decline to support healthy ageing.

Key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to;
- providing personal care as documented on the care plans whilst promoting healthy and active ageing by "doing with" not "doing for" each client.
- ensuring our respite clients remain engaged; physically, cognitively, and socially.
- work positively and collaboratively with other staff to provide person centred service and support.
- providing support to participate in day-to-day tasks (including meal preparation) and providing opportunities to attend offsite community outings.
- keeping concise and accurate records of care delivered and the individual's response.
- assisting with the preparation of meals as well as ensuring all clients have input into the selection of meals they receive.

About you
We are looking for people who will be the difference in the lives of our residents and clients.

  • Certificate III or IV in Aged Care & Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Relevant dementia qualifications and/or experience in dementia care and working with older adults in a meaningful way, towards a social, physical and/or mental goal.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with clients and their representatives
  • Good organisation, time management and problem solving skills
  • Exceptional resilience and initiative
  • Proficient computer and keyboard skills and the ability to use Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail and inhouse databases)
  • Willingness to support across our respite services when and if needed.
