Our Service:


headspace Centres act as a one-stop-shop for young people who need help with mental health, physical health, alcohol and other drugs and/or work and study support.


The key principle of the Uplift program within headspace is a commitment to providing age appropriate, youth friendly services which are engaging and acceptable to young people and that are congruent with the stage of development of the individual.

Role overview:


  • Provide regular, flexible, nonclinical support and interventions to young people engaged with Uplift, their families, and other key stakeholders, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support decision making processes relating to young people engaged with Uplift.
  • Facilitate a range of tailored responses to assist young people to achieve developmentally (and culturally) appropriate independence, including provision of appropriate information, opportunity and/or linkages.
  • Support young people to feel comfortable and safe to engage with health professionals and the environment in which services are delivered
  • Where indicated, support and encourage young people to develop links with other services and/ or communities
  • Develop and deliver age and developmentally appropriate psychosocial group work activities

Requirements:


  • Minimum of Cert IV in youth work or community services related discipline (ideally a completed diploma or Bachelors)
  • Experience in a similar role including Youth Support Work, Community Development, or Health Promotion Officer
  • An understanding and passion for the health and wellbeing of young people
  • Knowledge of the rationale, principles and evidence for early intervention for mental health of young people
  • Capacity to work outside of a structured environment for the engagement of young people and their families or key stakeholders i.e. outreach to local organisation or schools, home visits.
  • Ability to work autonomously with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, in particular with young people and in relation to clinical and nonclinical staff and stakeholders
  • Appointed to headspace Ipswich, however may be required to work from a number of other sites and in an outreach capacity to meet young person and service requirements
  • Some flexibility may be required in relation to the hours of work.
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a Blue Card
  • Current Driver's license
