The role


Our career options are as diverse as our people; we all have an important role to play An exciting, new opportunity now exists for a professional Corporate Secretary to provide company secretarial, governance advice and services to the Board of South East Water (SEW), Iota Services Pty Ltd (Iota) and associated Board Committees.


A core leadership role within our group and reporting to the General Manager, People Safety and Governance, you will also have a direct line of contact with the Managing Director and members of the Board and Committees.

Your role will be to ensure that the statutory obligations of each Board and Committee functions are met in alignment with the Water Act 1989 and the Corporations Act 2001.

Some of the other key accountabilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing expert advice for all matters relating to Governance and Corporate Secretary activities
  • Leading, coaching and developing the cosec team members and SEW leaders on all matters relating to Corporate Secretary activities and the Board
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement in board and committee policies and reviewing papers for each Board and Committee
  • Developing strong working relationships with General Managers and Branch Managers and participating as an effective member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), contributing to corporate direction and purpose.
  • Providing or coordinating company secretarial and administrative support for the Boards and associated committees, including preparing of agendas, reports and minutes.
  • Preparing associated documentation in regard to Corporate Governance issues, including providing advice and assistance.
  • Preparing advice on standards, protocol and accuracy of information to be presented to the Board of Directors.

Who are you?


Armed with governance related and co-sec experience, including policy development and advice, and ideally supported by a tertiary qualification preferably in law or business, you will be a strategic and conceptual thinker that enables seamless ways of working across all levels of the organisation.

With strong commercial acumen and a broad understanding of all business systems and processes, you will possess leadership attributes that inspire and energise and contribute to a positive culture.

Your exceptional communication skills and ability to build strong relationships across the business will put you in a good position to navigate a complex operational environment.

Though water industry corporate wide experience and knowledge and understanding of obligations under the Water Act is desirable, it is not essential.
