The Opportunity

This role is reporting to our EGM of Governance & Commercial and be responsible for the management of all legal services at Centurion.

The Legal Manager will provide leadership and high-quality legal advice whilst developing and maintaining business strategies to mitigate risk exposure to the company and ensure that Centurion operates in accordance with the law at all times.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Manage, mentor and guide the team members who report directly to this role, assist in problem solving and influence internal and external stakeholders to ensure the business is operating lawfully
Provide highquality and appropriate legal advice to internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner
Increase visibility and engagement of legal function by designing better ways of working with other departments
Draft legal documents to optimise commercial outcomes for the business
Complete weekly and monthly reporting on legal matters to Executive and the Board, ensuring that all updates effectively communicate the status and likely outcome of all matters.
Face to face negotiation of legal matters with Customers and other external parties, including regulatory bodies
Implement a legal training plan for Centurion and guide the business in understanding contractual and legal commitments
Manage dispute resolution / negotiations and providing recommendations for resolution and settlement
Provide legal support to the business in relation to Significant Safety Incidents
Monitor changes in legislation and provide appropriate advice to the wider business
Development of standardised documents
Collaborate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders onsite and/or face to face to address immediate issues and streamline communication
Maintain relationships within the direct team and wider business
Ability to travel Regional/Interstate as required

Skills & Experience

A Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) and current practicing certificate (Western Australia)
8+ years' relevant experience working in both top tier law firms and inhouse environments (highly desirable)
Broad legal knowledge (corporate law, commercial, litigation, employment etc)
