Our client is a membership-based organisation serving the Canberra community for over 50 years. They have a diverse range of entities including property investments, charities, retail, and education / training.

They are constantly adapting and growing to better serve the community with some major projects and joint ventures in the pipeline.


The Opportunity:


Due to a long-standing employee moving on, our client is now looking for their next Receptionist and Member Services Officer.

The organisation provides critical support to the construction industry, as well as providing both input and advocacy in matters of safety, gender and equal pay equality and general support to its 30,000 + members.


Working in a medium sized office of 20 staff, the role will allow you to feel real impact and help support the Canberra community.


The Role:


This position will manage a busy phone line and redirect a number of varied enquiries from the organisation's members, varying in complexity.

In some cases, the stress of the caller can be heightened so remaining calm and being able to deal with a diverse range of people is critical.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing and receipting membership fees and payments as well as completing daily reconciliation
  • Attending to reception and managing the main inbox
  • Bank statement reconciliation and processing BPAY and daily banking
  • Assist the Office Manager with general adhoc admin tasks
  • General support to the Branch Executive / Secretary

The Ideal Person:


You are looking for a long term, stable role in a successful organisation that makes a meaningful contribution to the Canberra community.

You enjoy a diverse and at times challenging role that will keep you busy whilst at the office, but also afford the option of leaving work at the door and having great work/life balance.

You have worked in office administration or management and understand basic finance and reconciliation. Most importantly, you have resilience and aren't someone easily offended, this role is in a blue collar/trade environment.

Given this is a small team, you will be known for rolling up your sleeves and helping to get the work done when needed to provide additional support.

You are outcomes focussed and you approach your work in a mature way with a good sense of humour.


The organisation also in the process of upgrading their systems, so your knowledge and input will be valuable to the process.


Salary / Rate:

- $80k + 12% Super

  • Free onsite parking
  • Permanent fulltime position
  • 36 hour week, office based role
