Role

We're seeking an experienced Maintenance Kiln Car Repairer to join our team at Austral Bricks in Wollert, VIC. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing daily maintenance and upkeep for the fleet of kiln cars including cleaning, replacement of blocks, welding, metal structure and complete rebuilds in line with the site's Kiln Car Repair Program.
Duties include but are not limited to
Maintain clean and tidy work area including kiln car repair area and kiln car cleaners;
Perform daily routine inspections of all available kiln cars;
Perform routine block alignment and replacement on cars going through the system;
Perform daily inspections of soft seals on both front and back of kiln cars;
Inspect Kiln Cars for any damaged sustained to metal frame and skirts, and repair any damage found;
Work as part of a team to complete full car rebuilds, including the following tasks:

Stripping of old materials

Complete any repairs required to frame cutting and welding
Replacing of all soft seals both front and back of car
Installing Castable and Cal-Sil boards, Vermiculite, Kao Wool and Scoria
Install blocks to manufacturer's recommendations
Perform quality check on all completed kiln cars obtain sign off by Maintenance Supervisor or Manager; and
Perform daily housekeeping tasks.

Success Requirements- Previous experience in a similar role.

Qualified Boilermaker or Mechanical Trade Fitter.
Working at Heights and Confined Space qualification.
Significant steel fabrication experience in crushing, screening and fixed plant maintenance in a manufacturing environment.

- ability to perform housekeeping and routine cleaning of working area.

Sound ability to read and understand schematic drawings, plans and specifications.
Ability to prioritise tasks to ensure quick responses to emergency breakdowns.
Strong commitment to following company policies and safety procedures.
