The People and Culture Office is an integral part of the business strategy and decision-making process focusing their efforts on strategic and operational programs and services that supports staff and organisational strategic objectives.

The Role

The People Services Manager leads the core operations of the People and Culture Office.

Your teams are the first and key liaison point between the People and Culture Office and the University; comprising Advisory, Recruitment, Talent Acquisition and Employee life cycle services.

Internally, the teams provide support to the various programs and initiatives driven by People and Culture.

As the Manager, you are responsible for leading and developing team members, the continuous improvement of the functions, driving engagement with and providing valued HR advice, support and services to the University.

You will also oversee operational reporting, smaller programs of work and act as the escalation point for unresolved matters.

What you'll bring to this role

Essential

  • Postgraduate qualification (or progress towards) in area of HR or a relevant discipline, along with substantial experience in generalist HR; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and/or training.
  • Extensive experience in people leadership and success in leading a diverse and multifaceted customer servicing team.
  • Demonstrated problem solving experience, the ability to manage competing demands and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Indepth understanding of the legislative and industrial framework that applies to human resources management issues, including substantial experience in interpreting policies, procedures and industrial instruments to advise on complex and escalated employee matters.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering innovative, practical initiatives which link human resource policies and programs to strategic directions and desired outcomes.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations and maintain composure, balance workload, team and service priorities and a strong commitment to deliver within a HR setting.
  • In-Depth knowledge of recruitment, talent sourcing and Employee life cycle events.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal, consulting, coaching, and negotiating skills including the ability to liaise and provide advice to management and staff at all levels.
Desirable

  • Experience with Workday
  • Previous experience in a higher education setting.
  • Certified professional membership (or the ability to gain) of the Australian Human Resources Institute.
