About the role:
The Physical Training Unit at the Victoria Police Academy is seeking an ongoing full time and ongoing part time (25 hrs a fortnight) Lifeguard / Pool Attendant.
A core part of your duties will involve supervising swimming sessions being undertaken by police recruits in support of the Police Foundation Training Program.
As the single Lifeguard / Pool Attendant on duty at any given time, in addition to supervision of swimmers, you will be required to conduct daily water quality testing and address any deficiencies identified as a result of the testing by safely adding applicable chemicals, whilst maintaining Occupational Health and Safety processes.
Your duties will include:
- Lifeguard supervision of casual patrons and police recruit swim classes
- Safe operation of a 50metre swimming pool including equipment maintenance and water quality processes
- Plant operations, including chlorination procedures
- Application and enforcement of Occupational Health & Safety principles as they relate to the Workplace.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Be able to work productively and safely with little to no supervision
- A current Lifesaving Victoria (or equivalent) Pool Lifeguard qualification
- A current Level II First Aid Certificate (including CPR Refresher training every 12 months)
Requirements and relevant information:
- One (1) full time, ongoing position is available (hours of duty 6am to 2pm Monday to Friday)
- One (1) parttime, ongoing position (25 hrs a fortnight) (hours of duty 2pm to 7 pm, rotating 3 weekday afternoons one week and 2 weekday afternoons the following week). The salary plus superannuation will be paid at pro rata rate.
- These positions are based at the Victoria Police Academy, View Mount Rd, Glen Waverley. You will be part of People Development Command, Operational Safety Division, Physical Training Unit but on occasions may be required to support other areas within the Command on a need's basis.
