About the role


The ICT Commercial Lead is responsible for driving high quality budget and financial management, investment planning, scenario modelling and relational procurement engagement.


You will be a key member of the ICT Business Management team with an overall responsibility to drive maximum value and return on investment from Council's key consumptive technology contracts, including but not limited to Telecommunications and Cloud computing.


Your focus will be on:

  • Being a proactive stakeholder in the commercial modelling of ongoing expenditure and new investments for ICT and ensure these activities are undertaken with appropriate governance, controls, and probity
  • Coordinating the financial and budget management policies, practices, and reporting with a high degree of efficacy and accuracy
  • Establishing and maintaining mechanisms for observability and transparency of Public Cloud (AWS, Azure) and Telecommunications expenditure, conducting root cause analysis and leading remediation of cost anomalies; coordinate financial, technical and procurement resources for ongoing optimisation of services provided on those platforms
  • Proactively identify and manage investment opportunities, cost savings and early benefit realisation across the ICT portfolio enabling Council to maximise growth and achievement of goals and objectives and follow through to ensure they are realised
  • Ensure Council maximises value and extracts optimum benefit to ensure strategic sourcing, procurement practices and vendor and contract development and management for consumptive contracts
  • Manage the ICT Commercial team (2 direct reports), providing effective leadership, direction and professional development opportunities

About you
To be successful in this role you will be a problem solver with excellent customer services skills along with:

  • Possession of graduate or post-graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or extensive experience to carry out the range of duties required
  • Ability to align ICT strategy with organisational business goals and objectives
  • Proven skills in engaging and influencing senior stakeholders across both business and ICT
  • Demonstrated exceptional verbal and written communication skills, particularly in translating complex technical topics
  • Analytical thinking
  • Extensive knowledge of integrated computerised financial systems relating to finance management operations
  • High level of accounting skills in relation to budget development, management, and reporting
  • Previous experience in FINOPS would be highly regarded

About the benefits


This is a fulltime permanent position, Level 8 with a salary range between $121,294 and $136,864 plus superannuation of up to 12.5%.
