In 2023, QBE's local AUSPAC operations will be embarking on a multi-year digital transformation in order to modernise our core systems and processes and to ultimately deliver exceptional customer journeys and positive business outcomes.
The General Manager Technology Strategy & Governance is a newly created senior role within QBE's technology team, reporting to our AUSPAC CIO.
This is a significant, broad general management role that encompasses overarching accountability for the AUSPAC Technology Strategy, IT Governance and Operational elements of the AUSPAC Technology business.
Strategic in nature, this role will:
- Develop and lead the execution of the AUSPAC Technology Strategy (Technology, Capability, Process) including the design and implementation of relevant sourcing strategies in alignment with QBE's overarching goals and strategy.
- Own and drive the implementation of the Technology Capability plan for the new Ways of Working, including the cultural change within a matrix based, agile ways of working environment.
- Lead and implement a Workforce Management Strategy for AUSPAC Technology resources (supply versus demand modelling)
- Ensure enterprise Technology governance for the division (covering board and regulators)
- Drive maturity and quality outcomes in our Technology Operating landscape
This role also plays a significant part and lead in partnering with our Group IT for synergies, consistency / ways of working as well as developing and managing partnerships with both internal and external suppliers of service.
Other key accountabilities include:
- Fiscal Responsibility
- Overseeing the management of the AUSPAC Technology budget (inclusive of AUSPAC specific, Group IT and Infrastructure allocations) and leads in the analysis and opportunities for optimisation providing challenge and transparency.
- Board Governance
- Leads the creation and submission of all relevant materials and documents for the AUSPAC Board and Technology Committees
This is an opportunity for a commercially astute senior technology professional with a passion for leading within complexity to drive continuous improvement.
Ideally you will have worked within large and matrixed organisations, understanding how to be effective with a diverse array of stakeholders both internally and externally (including with major vendor partners).
Ideal skills and experience:
- 10+ years experience in relevant roles in Technology relating to strategy, governance, and/or operations Passion for people and team leadership to grow and further develop QBE's internal talent Financial acumen/Budget management Experience in moving organisations towards agile ways of working Experience within matrixed (and ideally) global organisations Experience with regulators and boards Vendor management (Major outsourced contracts) Alignment with QBE's core cultural DNA
