We are seeking an enthusiastic Buyer to join our Sourcing team.

In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing indirect services and materials related to all Alstom sites in Australia and New Zealand.

More specifically, this role will be responsible for Alstom's Plant, Production Equipment and Tools to support our projects across ANZ.

This will include being responsible to develop the Sourcing Strategies and methods to achieve sourcing objectives, successful site operations and project execution.


Day to day activities involves supplier development, RFQ management, supplier and contract negotiations and business award conclusion with Quality, Cost, Delivery and Safety.


Key Responsibilities for this Role Includes:

  • Lead cost improvement plans for assigned commodities and suppliers.
  • Prepare and launch the request for quotation with suppliers, ensuring business awards are delivered time.
  • Manage Supplier quality audits and EHS audits are done on time and coordinated with
  • Negotiate cost reduction with suppliers.
  • Drive supplier QCD performance reviews with Supplier Quality team.
  • Consolidation of Indirect Commodities, as well as active participation in commodity strategy and panel elaboration.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required Includes:

  • Degree in Business or Engineering or demonstrable experience with purchasing or supply chain management
  • Previous experience with Purchasing preferably in a manufacturing/ plant equipment environment
  • Experience analysing and negotiating terms and conditions for suppliers
  • Strong communication skills with ability to liaise with all level an organisation local and internationally.

This role is to be based in the Melbourne CBD office or at our Manufacturing site at Dandenong, with potential regular travel required to other sites.
