This role is based at Concord Repatriation General Hospital which has a well-earned reputation for excellence in healthcare for over 70 years.

Building on its proud heritage of caring for the Veteran community, the hospital now services the local communities of Concord, Strathfield, Burwood and beyond.


About the role


The primary purpose of this position is to provide a range of high-quality, client-centred library services and information resources to staff and affiliated students.

This position is responsible for the provision of reference and research support services which include, reference services, expert literature searching, research consultation, search training, and other user instruction and education to support evidence-based practice, patient care, research, and professional development.


This position maintains and develops online services and electronic resources including the library management system, online catalogue, subscription databases, and access management system to ensure reliable and efficient access to the library's collection and electronic resources.

This role will participate in desk duties, library promotional activities, library projects and document delivery.

The Information Services Librarian assists the Library Manager in delivering a proactive, innovative information service to ensure the experience of the library services meets the needs of its clients.


About You

  • You have a recognised degree or Postgraduate qualification in Librarianship / Information Studies with eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
  • You have demonstrated skills and experience in searching a range of online databases, expert searching on complex topics, bibliographic management and supporting research projects such as systematic reviews or scholarly projects.
  • You have demonstrated experience to effectively develop and deliver research training and library education programs in the use of bibliographic databases, eresources, and reference management to clients at different levels of expertise.
  • You enjoy working in a small team and have a passion for innovation and excellence in library service delivery.

Work Rights:

To be eligible for permanent appointment to NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency.


All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
