Based in

Melbourne, as the

Head of Product you are a key leader in the Commercial Team working closely with other senior stakeholders across the business to ensure our product portfolio enables the business to meet our commercial and strategic objectives.


You will be an experienced commercially-focused, strategic, people leader and as the manager of the product and innovations teams, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of the energy and related service products we provide for our customers.


As the Head of Product you will be responsible for improving the commercial outcomes of the business, through an in-depth understanding of our products, the review and analysis of commercial, customer and product data and delivery of new and improved products.


With respect, integrity and honesty, you will:

  • Provide visible, insightful leadership for the product and innovations teams and the broader business;
  • Be accountable for Strategic Product Portfolio Management involving the optimisation of the portfolio to ensure it meets customer needs, is innovative and scalable, seeks and leverages market opportunities, maximises margin and delivers decarbonisation levers;
  • Be accountable for the delivery of the product framework and ensure that our total product mix continues to evolve in line with the needs of our existing and new customers and aligned with our business strategy;
  • Ensure product framework and processes include the identification, development, delivery and launch of customer propositions and the management of existing propositions to drive customer growth and retention;
  • Manage the Product Roadmap, across all products areas;
  • Ensure all product metrics, reporting and insights are robust and produce actionable, useful strategic insights;
  • Develop robust working relationships and work closely with the Sales, Digital Product and Marketing teams to ensure that propositions align with our customer value proposition, sales strategy and operational capabilities; and
  • Undertake critical analysis of industries, competitors, and market segments to identify profitable product opportunities and positionings.

What you'll bring
Here's what you'll need to thrive in this role:

  • Be a highly motivated, hands-on retail energy professional with particular focus on the ability to develop and deliver complex and commercially viable products. Able to understand and dissect the customer journey & experience as well as business operations and processes and be someone who can deliver cross-functional projects and change management.
  • Experienced leader with track record in developing highly engaged teams and building greater commercial acumen capability in direct reports and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability in developing, launching and managing mass consumer products, including scaling innovative products
  • Experience in all aspects of product development and product portfolio management, including customer and product lifecycle profitability
  • Independent and motivated, with demonstrated experience delivering successful projects;
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate with a range of stakeholders;
  • Inquisitive, curious and analytical with the desire to continuously learn, understand and be involved in complex projects;
  • Enjoy making a difference, developing people and improving processes within the business;
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to present to stakeholders concisely and confidently, both verbally and written; and
  • Demonstrate flexibility, agility and resilience in driving change through collaboration and stakeholder communication and the ability to help define outcomes, through developing solution options, strategies, plans, pathways and products.
