ECU's School of Medical and Health Sciences are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced supervisor to oversee our busy Biomedical team.


The Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for coordinating a team of technicians who deliver advice and support services for teaching and research activities in the Biomedical programmes within the School.

You will contribute to the ensuring a safe laboratory environment for staff and students.

Key criteria


You will have experience in providing supervision of staff and to motivate team members to pursue excellence in the delivery of services and outcomes through: the resolution of referred problems and non-routine tasks; the effective coordination of leave, role assignment, rosters and activities; a proactive approach to performance management and the identification and planning of appropriate training and development.

Be able to find practical and cost-effective solutions to issues.

Ability to set objectives, plan and manage time and resources

Excellent communication skills and willingness to support a wide range of activities.


Exposure to Australian Standards AS/NZS:
Safety in Laboratories, particularly in relation to microbiological safety and containment and biological sample storage would be an advantage


Following on from the interview process, the preferred applicant will be required to undergo a full medical and health assessment.

This position will be required to participate in an on-call roster including after-hours, weekends and public holidays.

Benefits & Remuneration

This full time ongoing term position attracts remuneration of $85,551 to $92,301 plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
