The Role
As the WHS officer you will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of Work Health and Safety.
- Provide technical expertise, guidance, analysis and reporting on Work Health and Safety matters.
- Update and maintain the unit WHS, Risk and Hazard registers.
- Manage and coordinate all WHS related events.
- Provide specialist advice on Sentinel WHS management system, including investigations and recommendations to the Commanding Officer.
- Engage with key stakeholders both internal and external on complex and sensitive work health and safety issues.
- Perform duties as required as the Defence Radiation Safety Officer.
- Perform duties as required as the unit HAZCHEM Safety Advisor.
- Coordinate and distribute tasking to Facilities Officer/s within the unit to meet legislative and business requirements.
About our Team
Joint Logistics Unit - South (JLU(S)) is responsible for varying levels of logístical support to Defence within the South Australian region.
The business consists of multiple sites including, warehouses, maintenance facilities and clothing stores.As part of business services team you will specifically lead in supporting the unit's responsibilities towards work health and safety.
Combined into an integrated workforce of military, commonwealth and industry contractors you will have the ability to work with other health and safety representatives within the business and the extended region.
