Description

Chandler Macleod is looking for and experienced Procurement Officer to join our client a well-known and respected brand within the mining industry, with multiple positions available.

The Procurement Officer is responsible for supporting and managing a broad range of procurement and joint procurement and business activities for Corporate and Functional Departments.

These activities can range from commercial risk, working capital improvements, contract execution and supply chain effectiveness whilst focusing on reducing spending.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with business customers to identify requirements and assist them to develop robust purchasing and contract specifications.
  • Support competitive bidding of supplier spending
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure conformance to agreed contract terms and leading the resolution process where issues are identified including dispute and claims resolution.
  • Participate in relevant cross functional teams to provide input and expertise on procurement related matters.
  • Proactively develop and maintain key supplier and customer relationships.
  • Ensure requirements of Corporate and Functional (includes both regional and global) departments are identified, understood, and managed.
  • Undertake the gathering and analysis of data, market, and business intelligence, local market, and community knowledge,
  • Develop and execute sourcing, procurement and contracting strategies as assigned, including negotiation of contracts, tracking, and reporting of commercial terms and value including cost savings and/or increases, cost avoidances and nonfinancial benefits. This also includes managing risk and performance metrics.
Key Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Project Management or Finance
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in similar Procurement or Commercial role
  • Sound business knowledge in a manufacturing environment, as well as an understanding of commercial and business issues in customer and supplier relationships
  • Demonstrated experience developing procurement strategies and negotiating contract terms and conditions
  • Proven ability to develop, maintain and influence business relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong time management skills, capacity to multitask and work autonomously with little direct supervision
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve complex issues
  • Proven ability to identify and manage risks to business policies and procedures
