About the Communications, Events and Publishing program area
The Communications, Events and Publishing (CEP) program area supports AIATSIS to
deliver its strategic plan and vision to external audiences. The principles of our work are
human-centred, embedding co-creation and design that is strategic and outward-focused.

We place Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and perspectives as central to
everything that we do. We oversee the AIATSIS brand and website, co-ordinate content
production and promotional campaigns across a range of channels, deliver conferences
and events, and publish books through Aboriginal Studies Press.

We value creativity and are driven to inform, educate and transform.***About the Role***The Digital Producer is part of a small team that is responsible for content development,
design and production for the Institute and takes the lead in creating engaging digital
content to support client areas, activities, and campaigns.

In collaboration with colleagues in CEP, you will have a key role in helping the Institute
communicate its work externally and tell the story of Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander Australia.

You will work with diverse AIATSIS client areas to help them deliver meaningful and
impactful work, including returning cultural heritage material from overseas, supporting
family history research, native title and ethical research, education and curriculum
resources and collections and exhibitions.


The successful applicant will:


create digital multimedia content for the Institute and in partnership with client
areas, including video, photography, audio, animation, design and online outputs
for a range of channels 

create engaging online content and user experiences in partnership with the
web development team and publish, edit and improve content on the AIATSIS
website 

ensure content is culturally appropriate and aligns with our brand style guide,
editorial style guide and strategic objectives, and organisation goals of AIATSIS 

work with the Assistant Director, Communications, Content Development and
Production and client areas across the Institute in the development and delivery
of digital content 

identify and pursue new digital content opportunities for AIATSIS 

build positive relationships with CEP team members and client areas 

contribute to and offer advice across the Institute on digital content production.

This position reports to the Assistant Director, Communications, Content Development
and Production.

This position will be filled using the Affirmative Measure provision, which allows for the
targeted recruitment of Indigenous Australians into the Australian Public Service. The
vacancy is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. The filling of this
employment opportunity is intended to constitute an Affirmative Measure under section
8(1) of the _Racial Discrimination Act 1975_.

good communications skills and technical capability to deliver engaging digital
content 

excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working
relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, internally and
externally 

highly developed multimedia skills, with the ability to use a range of technical
production equipment and Adobe creative software to deliver engaging content 

knowledge of web content production and standards including HTML, CSS, the
DTA Digital Service Standard, WCAG and Content Management Systems such
as Drupal 

the ability to work under pressure, often in a fast-paced environment, and
prioritise workload to meet deadlines 

the ability to respond well to feedback and understand the importance of
working within a team 

the ability to assist with supporting website, marketing, and social media
activities 

the ability to work without close supervision, be proactive and take responsibility
for completing tasks within agreed timeframes.


Desirable attributes:


An undergraduate degree in an appropriate multimedia/design/production
discipline and at least 3 years professional experience in a similar role.
