The Role

  • Oversee and manage the ODSwR budget including advice, reporting, coord/development of bids and monthly reconciliation of expenditure.
  • Coordination and management of all financial aspects of internal ODSwR contracting requirements, including but not limited to creation/editing of statement of works, Requests for Tasking Quotation Statement (RFTQS), tender evaluation, contract negotiation, financial paperwork and payments.
  • Establish and manage business processes for ODSwR business management for areas of responsibility i.e. procurement, administration, budget management. Review and maintain the policies and procedures as they relate to the business managers areas of responsibility.
  • Adhoc Finance, business continuity, HR and other tasks as required to support the whole of the executive support team outcomes
  • Recommending business solutions, developing and maintaining business procedures and implementing business improvement strategies that will assist in Defence achieving the Seaworthiness outcome.
  • Adapting and interpreting outputs in order to assess business requirements.

About our Team
The Office of the Defence Seaworthiness Regulator (ODSwR) is an independent Defence Regulator.
The ODSwR is tasked with managing the Defence Seaworthiness Management System (DSwMS), a Defence-wide maritime risk management system.


It does this through:

  • Scanning the maritime environment and advocating on behalf of Defence
  • Providing a regulatory framework to manage maritime risks
  • Assuring maritime risks are proactively considered and controlled
  • Monitoring trends across the Defence Enterprise
  • Providing support to the Defence maritime community through education and advice.
  • Welldeveloped financial management skills and the ability to adapt and interpret outputs in order to assess business requirements;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with recommending business solutions, developing and maintaining business procedures and implementing business improvement strategies that assist in achieving business outcomes;
  • Proven ability to manage and support all business processes including reporting, planning and quality control functions of an organisation; and
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise staff as well as participate as a team member.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
