An exciting opportunity exists for Casual Correctional Officers to join our MRRC at Silverwater.

About the role:


  • Correctional Officers in Correctional Centres are usually classified as shift workers and can work any 5 days in a week including weekends and public holidays.
  • Provide safety, security, welfare and rehabilitation of inmates/offenders.
  • Conducting daily searches and musters.
  • Locate and remove illegal and restricted substances whilst undertaking searches.
  • Manage inmates of all classifications.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and security at all times.
  • Undertake all custody related administrative duties.
  • Maintain confidentiality

The role offers:

  • Certificate III in Correctional Practice in the following 12 months

Requirements of the role:


  • Minimum age of 18 years old
  • Current driver's license
  • Australia or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Willing and able to work irregular shift patterns/hours of work (shifts up to 8 hours, 7 days a week).
  • Be available to work at short notice (calls for casual work are after 5pm for work on the following day).
  • Available to work at short notice
  • Meet the minimum medical standards and be of a reasonable fitness level
  • Have foundational computer skills
  • No visible inappropriate or offensive tattoos
