A unique opportunity to work as a Technical Officer (Capability & Response) in Geelong for a not-for profit organisation whose focus is oil spill response capability for Australia.


Australian Marine Oil Spill Centre (AMOSC) is a not-for-profit subsidiary company of the Australian Institute of Petroleum (AIP) and has a membership base consisting of high profile upstream and downstream petroleum companies in Australia.

AMOSC owns and operates industry's major oil spill response facilities including stockpiles of oil spill response equipment and sub-surface intervention equipment.

With a permanent staff of 16 available 24/7 and able to draw on a core group of industry experts of 120, AMOSC has multiple facilities located in Geelong, Fremantle, Exmouth, and Broome.

AMOSC provides training, technical advice capability assessments,, contingency planning, and exercise management services to the industry.

AMOSC is a key supporter of the National Plan for Maritime Environmental Emergencies as well as representing the industry across a range of relevant (Commonwealth and state level) forums and working groups.


As a Technical officer (Capability Building & Response) of AMOSC you will be supporting a vital organisation in the delivery of AMOSC's capability building and response services.

As a member of the Capability Building team, the role will support the General Manager in the provision of expert advice through preparedness planning, technical advice and the review and development of Oil Pollution Emergency Plans and operational Tactical Response Plans.

Additional responsibilities include facilitation of AMOSC's oil spill response training courses and tailored exercises to support AMOSC member oil spill response preparedness.

AMOSC's primary role is to provide emergency response support in the event of a marine pollution incident.

As such, the individual in this role will be required to remain response ready to provide technical oil spill response support.
