The Team
The Silent Elector Processing Cell is a newly formed team within the Service Design and Foundations Branch.

This team is responsible for day-to-day management of all enrolment-based activities for silent electors and providing virtual support to relevant business areas within the organisation when required.


The Opportunities


The Team Leader manages the daily operations, ensuring the quality of outputs for the work area and providing leadership of the Silent Elector Processing Cell.

You will supervise and manage a team through agile leadership, create and implement work plans, set team priorities, provide technical advice and facilitate innovative initiatives to support business improvement.


In the lead up to and during an electoral event, the Team Leader will temporarily redeploy to lead the temporary election surge workforce allocated to the processing cell.


To excel you'll have:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and empower staff to achieve results by providing clear direction, recognition, constructive feedback and delegating work appropriately to meet customer expectations.
  • Detail orientated with an ability to provide accurate and timely information in a logical manner, and produce highquality documents, project artefacts, plans, reports and executive briefings.
  • Proven ability to remain positive and respond to pressure in a calm manner while committing energy and drive to see that goals are achieved.
  • Demonstrated personal integrity and a willingness to work within a high performing team that achieves results within strict legislative and organisational policy and procedural parameters.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and engage with a diverse range of electors using language that provides clarity, resolves issues promptly tailoring the communication style.
Desirable

  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice.
  • Computer literacy with experience using Microsoft Office Suite and other computer software. Proficient in Microsoft Excel will be highly regarded.

  • AEC employees must be Australian citizens.
  • Any person who is, and seen to be active in political affairs, and intends to publicly carry on this activity, may compromise the strict neutrality of the AEC and cannot be considered.
  • Applicants are required to consent to, undergo, obtain and maintain a character clearance.
  • Applicants are required to consent to, undergo, obtain and maintain the security clearance required for this role.
  • Applicants may be required to undertake psychometric testing as part of this recruitment process.
