We are currently working in partnership with Adelaide's Electrical Transmission Company to identify a

Design Manager with technical expertise in Substation or Transmission Line Design. This permanent opportunity is an excellent opportunity for a Design Engineer to transition into a project management role. Supported by a highly motivated and experienced team, your transition will be supported by industry-leading engineering professionals.


The Role
The

Design Manager is accountable for the delivery of engineering services for Regulated and Contestable Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) projects across the business. This role will act as a primary contact for stakeholders for technical requirements and are responsible for managing compliance to all internal engineering processes for the project from the planning stage to handover to the asset owners including the development of specification documentation.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the engineering deliverables for the project, for the life of the project including scope, cost, quality, and time
  • Manage engineering project risks within the delegated Engineering Authority framework, reporting progress and proactively resolving issues as they arise to mitigate the impact
  • Manage allocated technical resources for all technical deliverables on the project including design reviews and construction reviews
  • Manage and be accountable for Safety in Design (SiD) process
  • Establish and maintain an engineering team for the project across all disciplines
  • Lead engineering resources for the project across all disciplines
  • Set clear boundaries and manage interface points across all disciplines (and with the client) to ensure complete scope development, successful integration, and deliverables are achieved
  • Engage with the client, internal and external stakeholders to influence and develop a detailed User Requirements Specification
  • Validate project design against User Requirements Specification
  • Be accountable, solutions focused and drive key outcomes
  • Foster technical innovation and lead initiatives for continuous improvement

Requirements:


  • Degree in Electrical, Civil or Structural Engineering (essential)
  • Eligible for membership of Engineers Australia (essential)
  • Chartered status with Engineers Australia (desirable)
  • Extensive experience in the energy section (i.e. transmission, distribution, or generation)
  • Specialised knowledge gained through solid experience in substation infrastructure/transmission network design and construction
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of all other disciplines obtained through experience and other means of professional development
  • Significant experience successfully delivering engineering outcomes including project scope, specification development, managing design reviews, onsite inspection, and safety in design processes
  • Ability to work with a high level of autonomy, adapting to a rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate outcomes
  • Welldeveloped analytical, investigation, and problemsolving skills
  • Awareness of technology and developments within the discipline
  • Knowledge of all legislated rules and codes governing the business and industry (NER, SA Electricity Transmission Code, ESCOSA Wind Farm Licensing Requirements etc)
  • Knowledge of the AER RIT-T Test (preferred)
