About the role
As an experienced member of our Business Services team, your job will involve:

  • Review of compliance jobs and Financial Statements, including the ability to time manage and prioritise so that jobs are sent out in a timely manner. The provision of review points with on-the-job training provided to address any technical knowledge gaps.
  • Ability to manage workflow autonomously including the proactive delegation of jobs to junior members of the team. Accurate budget forecasting with mínimal writeoffs.
  • Relationship management and development with clients. Attendance to client queries in a timely, efficient and professional manner. Development of knowledge specific to client industries and regions.
  • Preparation of clear, specific, well presented and easy to understand workpapers that set an example for junior team members to learn from.
  • Preparation of large complex jobs that contain multiple entities. Demonstration of expert knowledge within Accounting software's such as MYOB, Xero etc.
  • Prepare and/or provide complex tax advice for clients. Delegate research, when required, to other and provide feedback to them about the quality and accuracy of their research.
  • Completion of special work as it arises, including the preparation of forecasts, budgets and other advisorytype work.
  • Team management activities including the monitoring of KPI's, actioning of minor disciplinary issues and contribution to performance review feedback. Ability to lead the team confidently in the absence of the team leader.

About you

The qualities and qualifications we're looking for include:

  • Minimum four years of experience in public practice Accounting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of complex tax principles, e.g. Div 7a, capital gains, GCT concessions, franking accounts, SGC forms etc.
  • Knowledge in termination payments QBCC reporting and land tax is not essential but highly desirable
  • Proficient in Xero especially, payroll, tax, work papers and financial statements.
  • Proficient in MYOB AE including preparing fees and document manager.
  • Clear understanding of family group structures with regards to the interaction of trading and/or investment entities with individual and/or corporate beneficiaries.
  • Clear understanding of the pros and cons of different structuring options.
  • Experience in reviewing individual tax returns, BAS's, IAS's, payroll tax returns and FBT returns.
  • Ability to complete tax planning including profit and loss projections.
  • Ability to research a topic via appropriate channels. Confident to draft basic advice if required.
  • Ability to provide guidance and assistance to junior team members.
  • Acknowledgement that communication with clients will not start until after probation period is completed.
  • Willingness to be a team player and appreciate that at times we all chip in to help each other regardless of the task at hand.
