Maitland City Council is responsible for providing a wide range of services to Maitland and its growing population.

Council is seeking a Waste Services Operator to join our team at the waste facility to continue providing excellent customer experience to our community.


About the Role

As a Waste Services Operator, you will play an integral part in ensuring that the community receives timely and professional waste services.

This position is located at the Maitland Resource Recovery Facility and includes operation of resource recovery and landfill plant and equipment.

The Maitland Resource Recovery Facility is undergoing a transformation to increase resource recovery opportunities at the site.

You will assist and provide advice to customers to ensure the correct disposal and recycling of waste to ensuring resource recovery is optimised and landfilling of waste is minimised.


The role also includes the provision of weighbridge services, including maintaining accurate electronic transaction records for each vehicle that visits the facility.


As part of this role, in limited circumstances you may also be required to deliver and maintain waste bins, as well as operating side loading and rear loading waste collection trucks.


Benefits

This is a full-time, permanent position with a base salary range of $59,215 up to $65,729 per year based on demonstrated experience + allowances + 11% super.

Working hours for the position are 38 hours per week on a 1-in-2 weekend roster with a spread of hours between 7.00am to 4.30pm.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a current HR licence and demonstrated experience in the operation of waste management and landfill plant and equipment.


Your commitment to providing a high level of service to customers, ability to work as part of the team coupled with your demonstrated understanding of WH&S in the context of the waste management industry will help you succeed in this role.

Possession of a current traffic controller certificate and forklift ticket will be highly regarded.
