The Philanthropy Manager is ideally, an experienced fundraising practitioner able to cultivate and deepen significant relationships and solicit mid-level gifts to grow philanthropic investment at Swinburne University of Technology.

The role is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding an assigned portfolio of donors and mid-level donor prospects, including individuals and representatives of philanthropic entities, such as Trusts and Foundations, private ancillary funds, and corporate partners.


The role requires the successful applicant to work with sophisticated and established philanthropists and philanthropic organisations to identify where philanthropy can act as an enabler.

It also requires them t to act as an intermediary, building networks and promoting and advocating for these valuable relationships.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated fundraising experience, preferably in a tertiary education environment, with a sound knowledge of appropriate concepts, methodology, and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating and delivering midlevel gifts (up to five figure gifts or greater).
  • Demonstrated ability and practical experience in working with a CRM or donor database systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge).
  • Strong people engagement, relationship development, and customer service orientation.
  • Excellent written and oral communicator
  • Comfortable working with people from different backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex organisation
  • Willing team player and contributor to objectives of the fundraising, bequests, and communications plans of the Philanthropy team.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
- extensive experience and specialist expertise or broad knowledge in fundraising; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
