About the Role

Two exciting opportunities exist for qualified and experienced individuals to provide team leadership, professional customer service, and support new initiatives for service delivery at the Port Phillip Library Service, within the Community Services Department.


You will be energetic, enthusiastic and passionate about connecting with children, young adults, and parents/carers as part of a dynamic children's and youth team across the five branches of the Port Phillip Library Service.

You will be familiar with the development of children's and teen collections including emerging digital resources, the design and the running of programs, and providing reader development and services for children, young adults, and parents/carers.
The position requires evening and weekend shifts across branches as rostered.


Duties:


  • Create opportunities for children and youth to engage with library services, programs and collections
  • Deliver services such as story times, parenting talks, and school holiday programs
  • Build children's, teenage and parenting collections that are accessible, relevant, and appealing
  • Develop and administrate programs or services for children, young adult and parents/carers that encourage early learning and social literacy, and are fun and engaging
  • Deliver high quality frontline information, reference, reader's advisory, and customer service to library users queries
  • Lead frontline shift teams to create a space that is welcoming and inclusive for library custome

Skills and Experience

  • Ability to prioritise competing demands and manage own time efficiently
  • Tertiary qualification which confers eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association as a qualified librarian, OR Equivalent relevant library experience or other tertiary qualifications relevant to inherent duties of the role
