About Us


The Youth Justice Team provides community-based supervision and a range of case management and support services for young people who are appearing before, or have been sentenced by, the Children's Court, Children's Koori Court, and adult criminal courts and who have been placed on youth justice supervised orders.

The team promotes the personal development of young offenders and contributes to the reduction of crime in the community.


About the Role


As a Court Advice Worker, you will work with young people who have complex needs who are in custody in Youth Justice Centres and will assist in planning for their release, which includes their reintegration into the community.

You will provide support to your team leader to manage the team and provide assistance to other Youth Justice Staff members when required.


Your responsibilities will include:

supporting clients by providing holistic and comprehensive services to increase their opportunities of enhancing their quality of life, leading supervisions and case management of young people, reviewing client service plans and implementing strategies that address offending behaviour and encourage young people to comply with statutory orders.


This role will be predominantly based across the Dandenong office and the new Dandenong Children's Court, however there may be some travel required to alternative courts.

- advanced understanding of the Youth Justice system and its underlying philosophies
- understanding of the principles of case management and case work
- strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels
- good problem solving skills
- demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

The department is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is safe and without risk to the health of its employees consistent with the department's obligations under the _Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic).

_Therefore, there is a requirement that all DJCS employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to undertake duties outside of their homes.


At interview stage and prior to commencement of employment with the department, you will need to provide evidence that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 with three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.


Upon commencement of employment with the department you will be required to provide evidence that you have an up-to-date vaccination status within the timelines specified by the department into the DJCS Service Portal.

This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).


Acceptable evidence includes:

  • COVID19 digital certificate with three doses registered (available via your myGov account)
  • Your immunisation history statement (available via your myGov account)
Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
