About the role
The Mater Hospital Brisbane has an opportunity available for an experienced
Administration Officer to join
the Teleservices team. This is a casual position working across a 24/7 Monday-Sunday roster.


The purpose of this position is to provide an efficient and effective and professional service for customers, patients and staff of the Mater Health Services through the Teleservices Centre and Reception in keeping with the Mater Philosophy.


Salary range:
$ $31.54 (MCA2) + super + salary packaging


What you'll be doing
In this position you will be responsible for the following:

  • Managing a high volume of calls and inquiries for Mater Health Services and resolve or redirect to the appropriate department / staff member / extension in a polite and professional manner
  • Action all emergency codes as required and in accordance with hospital procedures.
  • Develop and maintain good knowledge of Mater Services, locations, personnel and information necessary to deal with inquiries customary to a forefront position
  • Monitor alarm systems including fire, medical gasses and security as required
  • Carry out administrative duties as required
  • Develop and maintain a good knowledge of rosters and term allocations and be able to utilise them as necessary
  • Participate in quality improvement activities including the development and maintenance of procedures relevant to the area and education and training activities
  • Contribute to and maintain an efficient, productive and positive workplace and communicate and cooperate with fellow workers to promote teamwork within the department
  • Attend/participate in regular, both singular and work team meetings to review current work practices and participate in appropriate developmental courses

About you

  • Demonstrated at experience in a similar position on a switchboard (hospital or health setting highly advantageous)
  • To be available to work across
    a 24/7 roster including overnights, weekends and public holidays in accordance with the roster
  • Proficient computer and typing skills and ability to utilise multiple computer systems
  • A commitment to excellent service and accuracy
  • Mature, well presented, responsible and approachable
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively as a team member
  • A demonstrated commitment to the Mater Mission and values
