The Opportunity
Cochlear has an opportunity for a Scientific Communications Writer based at our head office at Macquarie Uni, Sydney.

In this role, the successful Scientific Communications Writer will play a crucial role in planning, creating, and disseminating evidence-based communication materials to facilitate scientific exchange with healthcare professionals, institutions, and customers, supporting Cochlear's Clinical Research Strategy and Business Objectives across global regions.


Responsibilities include the following:

  • Write and review scientific manuscripts for peerreviewed journals.
  • Develop abstracts, posters, and presentations for various audiences.
  • Ensure compliance with bestpractice guidelines for scientific communications.
  • Coordinate internal and external reviews to maintain quality and brand alignment.
  • Generate highquality communications to support these initiatives.
  • Review and write market research and clinical evidence materials.
  • Align with internal stakeholders and adhere to communication guidelines.

About You

To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:


Essential:

  • University Degree, in a medical, healthrelated or scientific discipline
  • Proven track record in delivering written scientific communications, including publications, White Papers, abstracts, and podium presentations involving internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to working crossfunctionally and crossgeographically to deliver goals within agreed timeframes.
  • Good project management skills, including establishing project timelines and milestones.

Ideal:

  • Experience in the audiological industry ideal but not essential
  • Familiarity with applicable Clinical Research Regulations (ISO13485, ISO14155, ISO9001, FDA 21CFR820 etc)
  • Successful and demonstrable publication record in scientific peer reviewed journals, or nonscientific platforms, to professional and or patient forums from creation to publication.
  • Experience in the design and use of health economics and research outcomes for the purposes of promoting medical products.
  • Ability to communicate complex material in presentations and discussions in lay language.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office (word, excel and power point)
