Position Information:


Built on the land of the Wonnarua people, Singleton Heights Public School draws students from families living in the Singleton Heights region.

There are strong links with the mining and rural industries as well as local services. A Defence School Mentor supports families connected to the Singleton Lone Pine Barracks.

Over 490 students are enrolled, with approximately 20% of students recognising and celebrating their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.

The school also has a multi-categorical support class on site. All students strive for success with high quality, evidence-based teaching and learning practices visible in every classroom.

Students are supported by a school culture of inclusion and high expectations where professional, dedicated and supportive teaching staff are committed to leading the students to thrive.

Collaborative practices contribute to a positive learning environment, where educational research, reflective practice and professional dialogue are highly valued within the school.

The school is situated on expansive grounds, allowing students to be physically active in a welcoming environment. Singleton Heights Public School offers a wide variety of extra-curricular programs that are embraced by students. The school maximises parent and community involvement via the Parents and Citizens Association and local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group.


Selection Criteria:


  • Approval to teach infants and primary with the demonstrated ability to develop and implement high quality, differentiated, inclusive and engaging literacy and numeracy programs that utilise evidence informed practices.
  • Demonstrated capacity and commitment to positively enhance student engagement, behaviour and wellbeing through a culture of high expectations.
  • Demonstrated capacity to communicate, collaborate and build strong partnerships with all stakeholders of the school community to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to raising the cultural identity and learning outcomes of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students with an understanding of policies and pedagogies.
