Are you up for the challenge?:


As General Manager Technology Operations you will be responsible for providing technology, service delivery/operations, project (construction) technology engagement, IT enablement and procurement across John Holland.

You will be responsible for cloud (AWS/Azure), network, M365, unified communication, identity, and end user compute technology domains.


You will work closely with our corporate environment, and our construction projects to determine, deliver and support the technology strategy, providing both tactical and strategic outcomes.

An ability to dissect business needs and challenges and be across multiple technology stacks will serve you well to ensure technology is an enabler for the business.


This role ensures that the technology platform aligns with our strategic goals and objectives, and that technology services are delivered efficiently and effectively to internal and external stakeholders.

People are at the heart of everything we do, so building and maintaining trust through technology performance and via a service orientated approach is critical for the success of this position.

What you will do;:


  • Lead the development of the infrastructure technology and service delivery roadmap ensuring it aligns with IT, business, and project needs.
  • Partner with key business functions to understand business needs and assist in codeveloped strategies to ensure technology is an enabler.
  • Collaborate with development and product teams to help automate their build, test, packaging, and deployment procedures.
  • Lead and supervise the technology operations team across various disciplines including engineering design, cloud, network, EUC, service operations and procurement.
  • Maintain compliance with various frameworks including ITIL v4, NIST and Essential 8

What we are looking for;:


  • Substantial senior IT management experience across multiple large, complex organisations
  • Strong infrastructure acumen, including crossdomain knowledge and preferably earlier career experience in a technical infrastructure
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging infrastructure technologies and how other enterprises are employing them
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a plan that ensures that the right people are in the right roles at the right time, and that employees are highly engaged and satisfied
  • Strong experience in both waterfall and agile environments
  • Strong ability to influence senior leaders and build trust
  • Experience in influencing to drive organisational change
  • Experience developing and maintaining strong networks and channels to engage with stakeholders
  • Strong people leadership skills and building high performing teams
  • Deep technology knowledge and platform delivery experience
  • Strong service level management experience
  • Extensive vendor management
