Position Overview

The Biological Data Science Institute (BDSI) is a multidisciplinary academic unit in the ANU College of Science that sits at the interface of data science and biological science.

It aims to recruit, build and coordinate expertise in biological data science to accelerate the translation of biological data to biological knowledge.

Operating in the space between traditional disciplines, the BDSI is positioned to collaborate widely to solve problems that have impact.

The Clinical Trials Biostatistician is a new position, created as a result of the creation of the Clinical Hub for Interventional Research (CHOIR).

CHOIR will provide a central hub at the College of Health and Medicine point for the specialised functions involved in conducting early phase clinical research to the required international standards.

A key component of this mission is the development of academic strengths in clinical research along with translational collaborations with fundamental scientists across the College.

The Clinical Trials Biostatistician will be a member of the BDSI, accountable to the BDSI Director, Professor Eric Stone.

They will work to advance the shared goals of BDSI and CHOIR in the healthcare space by driving high quality and efficient research and innovation, strengthening strategic partnerships, and accelerating the translation of knowledge to practice and policy.

The Clinical Trials Biostatistician is expected to undertake high impact independent research and support the clinical trials activities of BDSI and CHOIR.

Under the direct supervision of Professor Mark Polizzotto and Dr Teresa Neeman, these goals will guide the appointee's research, training and service activities.
